Watch Out! Breakthrough Gemini AI Tools Are Coming to Google Workspace

Google has officially introduced its Gemini AI tools to the Workspace suite, promising a significant boost in productivity and efficiency. This latest development means that your workplace emails, spreadsheets, and files may start to look different.

Gemini AI is now integrated into Gmail, Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides. Let’s explore the exciting features of Gemini AI and how it can transform your work experience.

Gemini AI in Google Workspace

Initially, only paying Google Workspace customers can access this powerful tool. By clicking on the “Ask Gemini” button in the top right corner of these apps, users can unlock advanced AI capabilities.

The new side panel, powered by Gemini 1.5 Pro, provides a longer context window and more advanced reasoning. Consequently, this feature is particularly useful when working with older documents. Additionally, the AI assists with summarizing, analyzing, and generating content using insights from emails and documents without the need to switch applications or tabs.

Enhanced Content Creation and Management

Gemini AI offers numerous use cases within the Workspace suite. For instance, it can help you write and refine content or summarize documents in Google Docs. Moreover, it generates new slides and custom images in Google Slides. This functionality extends to Google Sheets as well, where Gemini AI assists in tracking and organizing data, creating tables, generating formulas, and providing task completion advice.

Additionally, in Google Drive, Gemini AI can summarize multiple documents or create summaries on specific topics. This means users no longer need to search through numerous files to find the information they need. As a result, productivity is significantly enhanced.

Gemini AI tools in Gmail

In addition to its integration with Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drive, Gemini AI is now available in the Gmail side panel. This feature offers a range of capabilities. For example, it summarizes email threads, suggests responses to emails or answers questions, and finds specific information from emails or Google Drive.

These features enable users to respond quickly without leaving Gmail. For example, you can ask Gemini to search your inbox for specific details like a PO number or expenses from a recent marketing event. The AI will then provide the necessary information promptly, enhancing your efficiency.

To access Gemini AI in the side panel of Workspace apps, users must have smart features and personalization turned on. Admins can enable this setting in the Admin console. On the web, users can access Gemini by clicking on the “Ask Gemini” button in Gmail. On mobile, they can tap the “summarize this email” chip in an email thread.
